The Sun
The Sun is the central star of our Solar System, a massive sphere of hot plasma created by nuclear fusion in its core. It primarily emits visible light and infrared radiation, making it crucial for life on Earth. The Sun orbits the Galactic Center about 24,000 to 28,000 light-years away and is approximately 1.39 million kilometers in diameter, with a mass 330,000 times that of Earth. Composed mainly of hydrogen and helium, it formed around 4.6 billion years ago from a collapsing molecular cloud. In the future, as hydrogen fusion slows, the Sun will expand into a red giant before shedding its outer layers and becoming a white dwarf, eventually cooling into a black dwarf over trillions of years.
