Recently, the alleged richest man in the world commented on his social media site that in the UK ‘civil war is inevitable’. Over 500 million monthly active users and more than 200 million daily users worldwide use the social media site known as X.
Influencers such as Elon Musk and Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon alias Tommy Robinson and politicians like Nigel Farage have intentionally helped to incite the right-wing fraternity to commit acts of aggression in communities throughout Britain. Those who have responded to their calls are like zombies carrying out mindless acts of violence but with little sense of how they are being manipulated.

So, what can be done? Perhaps having tougher legislation regarding social networks, restricting what they can allow to be published on their platforms. This might be hard as many companies are based outside the UK. Another possible solution is to ban and block the providers, this has been done in China and Russia. Nevertheless, this might not be something a democratic country would wish to pursue.

The answer may lie in educating people and making them aware of the subliminal influence of wealthy and powerful, self-interested individuals. Such persons distort facts to grow their following in their quest to seek divine status and worship from their blind followers.

Often, we hear that freedom of speech is the key component of a free society. That is certainly true, but it must always be linked with responsibility.
