Pacman Nebula

IC 11, also known as Sh2-184 or the Pacman Nebula due to its resemblance to the video game character, is a bright emission nebula located in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia. It spans about 20x30 arcminutes and is part of the Milky Way's Perseus Spiral Arm, associated with the open cluster IC 1590 and several Bok globules. Discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard in 1883, the nebula includes the multiple star system B 1, which features a luminous O6 class star, HD 5005. The region can be seen through amateur telescopes in dark locations, and noted astronomer Walter Scott Houston described it as having a faint glow near the multiple star, with a much larger nebulosity appearing less bright than M33 in Triangulum."
